OpenAdmiral is 100% local: your code, prompts, sessions and artifacts never leave your Mac, and there is no account. The app and your Claude Code sessions talk through plain JSON files under ~/.claude/openadmiral.
The one thing the app sends
To know how many people use OpenAdmiral, the app sends one anonymous ping when it starts and then once every 24 hours while it runs. It goes to openadmiral.com/api/ping and contains exactly:
id: a random identifier created on first launch and stored on your Mac. It is not derived from your hardware, your name or your account.version: the OpenAdmiral version, for example 0.2.0.os: always "macos".osVersion: your macOS version, for example 26.0.arch: your processor architecture: aarch64 (Apple Silicon) or x86_64 (Intel).
What it never sends
No code, file names, paths, prompts, conversations, project or agent names, costs, usernames or email addresses. The server does not store IP addresses and sets no cookies.
What we keep
One row per install identifier: when it was first and last seen, and the latest version, macOS version and architecture it reported. We use it only to count installs and active installs, and to see which versions are in use. It is never sold or shared.
Turn it off
- In the app's menu bar, open Help and untick “Share Anonymous Usage Stats”.
- Or set the environment variable OPENADMIRAL_TELEMETRY=0, or DO_NOT_TRACK=1.
With it off, the app sends nothing at all. Checking for updates downloads a small file (openadmiral.com/updates/latest.json) and sends no identifier.
